Nonnahús Akureyri turf house postcard

This vintage black-and-white postcard shows the interior of a traditional Icelandic turf house bedroom (from Nonnahús in Akureyri, the childhood home of Jón Sveinsson / Nonni). The image depicts a small attic room with slanted wooden ceiling, simple wooden bed with checkered blanket, wooden chair, small table with lamp and box, pair of shoes on the floor, and a window with lace curtain. The scene illustrates authentic 19th-century Icelandic rural living conditions.

The back is printed with “FRÁ NONNAHÚSI” at the top left, and the vertical text “ÚTG.: ZONTAKLÚBBUR AKUREYRAR – LJÓSM.: V. SIGURGEIRSSON” (Published by Akureyri Rotary Club – Photo: V. Sigurgeirsson).
