Description
Denmark milk token EK 2LMM
This is a triangular brass milk trade token from Denmark, used around 1900 in the dairy/milk distribution trade. The obverse is stamped with “EK” at the top (likely the issuer’s initials or dairy mark) and “2LMM” at the bottom (indicating 2 liters of milk). The reverse shows “ER” at the top and “2 L M M” at the bottom, confirming the 2-liter milk denomination.
These tokens were issued by local dairies or milk sellers to customers as prepaid vouchers for milk delivery, a common practice in Denmark and Scandinavia before standardized coinage dominated small transactions.
