Iceland 1972 Fischer Spassky multilingual postcard

This is a commemorative postcard issued for the 1972 World Chess Championship match in Reykjavík between Bobby Fischer (USA) and Boris Spassky (USSR). The front features a multicolored artistic cachet with text in multiple languages:

  • Danish: “Verdensmesterskabsturnering i skak, Reykjavik 1972”
  • German: “Weltmeisterschaftsturnier im Schach, Reykjavik 1972”

The 15 króna stamp (chessboard globe design) is cancelled with the Reykjavík 3.IX.1972 postmark in the circular “HEIMSMEISTARAEINHVIGI Í SKÁK” cancellation.
