Iceland 2 krónur 1925 coin

This is an Icelandic 2 krónur coin dated 1925, issued during the reign of King Christian X (as King of Iceland under the Danish union). Struck in bronze at the Copenhagen Mint, it weighs 15 grams and measures 31 mm in diameter with a reeded edge.

  • Obverse: Crowned monogram of King Christian X (interlaced “C” and Roman numeral “X” beneath a crown), flanked by the split date “19” and “25”. Encircling legend “ÍSLANDS KONUNGUR” (King of Iceland). Mint marks include “HCN” (mint master Hans Christian Nielsen) and “GJ” (engraver Gunnar Jensen).
  • Reverse: Large denomination “2” in the center flanked by floral ornaments, with “KRÓNUR” above and “ÍSLAND” below.

The coin belongs to the series KM# 6, minted in 1925 as part of Iceland’s decimal coinage under the Danish crown (100 aurar = 1 króna). It is the highest denomination in the initial bronze series introduced that year.
