Öræfajökull Jökulsárlón postcard
This vintage color postcard shows the Öræfajökull glacier on Iceland’s south coast, viewed from the Breiðamerkursandur area near Jökulsárlón lagoon. The front depicts the massive glacier tongue with icebergs in the foreground, a calm lagoon, and people/cars on the black volcanic sand, capturing the dramatic glacial landscape typical of Vatnajökull National Park.
The back is multilingual (Icelandic, English, German, Danish) with the caption: “Víð Fjallsárlón á Breiðamerkursandi. Öræfajökull í baksýn.” “The glacier Öræfajökull on the south coast of Iceland.” “Bræen Öræfajökull ved Islands sydkyst.” “Der Gletscher Öræfajökull an der Südküste Islands.”
It credits publication by Grafík hf, Reykjavík, photo by Guðmundur Hannesson, and is numbered 252 in the series. The layout includes a blank address/message area and the Edda Foto logo.
A classic mid-20th-century Icelandic tourism postcard from the Edda/Grafík series.
